Sarah EC Maines is a Lighting Designer and Head of Design and Technical Production at Texas State University.  She has worked primarily in commercial theatre, enjoying the high paced atmosphere of Broadway and First National Tours.  As Assistant Lighting Designer, Sarah worked with Howell Binkley on all seven national productions of Jersey Boys directed by Des McAnuff, which won the Tony Award for Best Lighting Design and Best Musical in 2006.  She also worked as Associate Lighting Designer on the Broadway run of Sarah Jones’s Bridge and Tunnel.  At New York City Center and Broadway’s St. James Theatre, she served as ALD with Binkley on Gypsy with Patti Lupone, directed by Arthur Laurents.  The team paired up again for the First National Tour of Broadway’s 2008 Best Musical, In the Heights.  Sarah has also assisted Tony Award winning Lighting Designer Chris Parry.  Recently, Sarah designed lighting for All Shook Up, As You Like It, The Cherry Orchard, and Richard III at Texas State University, God of Carnage at ZACH Theatre, A Dolphin Christmas at Sea World, San Antonio, and Illinois Shakespeare Festival 2013 season (Macbeth, Comedy of Errors, and Failure: A Love Story.) Prior to joining the faculty at Texas State University, Sarah spent four years as Head of Graduate Lighting Design at Florida State University.  She earned her MFA in Theatrical Design with a concentration in Lighting from the University of California, San Diego under the mentorship of Chris Parry.  Her BA in Theatre and BS in Telecommunications Production were earned from the University of Florida.  She is a member of United Scenic Artists – Local 829.
